NATO’s Rebels Slaughter Gaddafi Loyalists – Claim

2011 July 26

When the war/kinetic action/humanitarian mission kicked off back in Libya in early April  it was alarming to learn that the NATO allies were arming Al-Qaeda fighters in a bid to topple Gaddafi.

I for one was astonished that we would even consider arming members of a group that we are repeatedly told hates the West and is globally connected and sophisticated enough to plan multiple terrorist atrocities around the world . In my article ‘Libya – purely Humanitarian intervention? ‘ of April 4th  I made the following comment:

Today the very threat of an Al-Qaeda attack seems enough for Governments around the world to legitimise taking more and more of our freedoms away and now we’re risking arming them to the teeth? Am I missing something here? If there is any possibility that our firepower could inadvertently land in the hands of the Al-Qaeda terrorist then surely we should be questioning our support of such a rebellion in the protection of our own security and interests.

But who are the heroic rebels that we are now backing? How do we know that, if and when they overthrow their enemy with our support, that they will not massacre the Gaddafi loyalists? The news reports I watch still seem to show a lot of them.

Yesterday I discovered that my fears of such a massacre were well founded after allegations that the mutilated bodies of Gaddafi loyalists has been discovered in the Nafusa Mountains in Libya. The five bodies were allegedly found in a water tank just off the main road between Zintan, the area’s main town, and Al-Qawalish and the identity of the men, one of whom had been decapitated, remains unknown.

The mutilated corpses were clad in green uniforms of a kind worn by troops loyal to the Libyan leader, Muammar Gaddafi but rebel commanders asked to comment on the find claimed that the men were most probably killed by Gaddafi’s forces while attempting to defect. However, after the discovery was reported to local authorities, the area was allegedly flattened by bulldozers and the corpses went missing.

I’m not trying to blow my own trumpet or claim that I have made a startling prediction of any type. This latest atrocity, if legitimate, was bound to happen. If it was clear to me, a man with no military background, then it was obvious to those who are bombarding this country in our name.  It’s disgusting that we are still claiming to be doing this for humanitarian reasons and our politicians must think we are absolute fools as they keep peddling this ridiculous story.  Does anyone out there really believe that this is all about protecting the people of Libya? If you do then I’d like to hear from you.

Please also read my piece ‘The Hypocrisy of Humanitarian War’ if you need to be reminded what we are doing to this country and its people.
